The TWU Applauds Nomination of Marty Walsh To Be Labor Secretary

Following President-elect Joe Biden’s nomination of Marty Walsh to be Labor Secretary, the following statement should be attributed to Transport Workers Union President John Samuelsen:

“The Transport Workers Union offers is thrilled to congratulate Secretary-designate Marty Walsh on his nomination to lead the Department of Labor. We are firmly committed to working with him to protect workers from exposure to covid-19, end misclassification, improve wages and benefits, grow the trade union movement, and make a critical difference in the lives of workers.

“Transport workers – and all frontline, essential workers – have suffered greatly during this pandemic. The Trump Administration’s Department of Labor, particularly OSHA, has abdicated their responsibility to our members and the entire economy. Marty Walsh knows that the only chance we have for a successful recovery from this pandemic is to put workers first. He has long, demonstrated history of advocating for workers and knows what it takes to make this the most pro-worker Administration in decades.”
