It is time to act! It is time to ensure that our North East Corridor and National Network of Long-Distance trains continues to function at current frequency. Call your Members of Congress today and ask for Amtrak funding in the next relief package. Let Congress know that Amtrak workers have been deemed essential workers and have been working throughout this pandemic. Hundreds of Amtrak workers have contracted COVID-19, but have continued to work despite the risks.
To support your union siblings and to let your voice be heard call your Senator at the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121.
“Hello, I’m calling because I’m very concerned about the lack of relief funding for Amtrak workers by October 1st. Reducing North East Corridor, Long-Distance trains and cutting essential Amtrak worker jobs will hurt [YOUR STATE]. With no action by Congress at all, we could lose entire segments of the Amtrak network for good. That would be an economic catastrophe for hundreds of Amtrak-served communities. As an Amtrak worker and a member of the Transport Workers Union, we urge you to support $5 billion in funding for Amtrak, and asking that any relief bill includes protections for Amtrak’s workers. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my concerns.”
