As dispatchers, we all share the same responsibility regardless of the logo on our badge. Every day we plan flights, assess risk, support our crews, and make decisions that directly impact the safety of passengers and employees. It is a profession built on expertise, accountability, and trust.
At TWU Local 592, we believe that dispatchers are best represented by dispatchers. When contract negotiations become difficult, when operational changes threaten our work, or when companies look for ways to reduce costs at the expense of our profession, there is no substitute for having experienced dispatchers at the table who understand exactly what the job entails.
This is not about creating division between labor organizations. Strong unions have always been essential to protecting workers, and collaboration across our industry is more important now than ever. In fact, we have consistently welcomed dispatchers from other carriers and organizations to participate in discussions about issues affecting our profession. The challenges we face do not stop at airline or Union boundaries.
Today, the profession faces emerging threats that will shape the future of airline dispatching. Companies across the industry are investing heavily in automation, artificial intelligence, and technology designed to reduce labor costs. While technology can be a valuable tool, we must ensure it is used to support dispatchers, not replace them. The decisions being made today will determine what our profession looks like for the next generation.
