Jose Galarza

 

Jose has been an Air Division staff representative since 2009. Jose was elected board member, Vice-President and President of Local 570 between 1996 and 2009.  Jose also serves as the Liaison for the TWU’s Veteran Committee.

After graduating from Aviation High School in New York City, Jose hired in at American Eagle Airlines in 1991 as a catering clerk before transferring as an Aircraft Mechanic in 1992. Jose has worked at John F. Kennedy (JFK) and LaGuardia (LGA) airports in New York.

Jose joined the United States Army Reserves in 1991 and possessed various Military Occupational Specialties. In 2006 he was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 101st Airborne Division for 12 months and received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon (2nd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Jose retired from the US Army Reserves in December 2011 with over 20 years of service.

Over the years Jose has trained in Organizing, Collective Bargaining, Dispute Resolution, Interest Based Bargaining and Grievance Mediation

Jose was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Aixa and daughters Isis and Frances.
