Gary Peterson

 

Gary was elected as an International Vice President in 2017 and is the Air Division Director. Gary previously held the position of Air Division Systems Coordinator after joining the International Staff.  Through the years, Gary was also elected President of Local’s 591, 565, & 567; a TWU Local 563 Executive Board Member; & the TWU Local 512 Maintenance Chairman.

Gary hired in at American Airlines O’Hare facility (ORD) where he worked in the MLS Classification from 1990 to 1992, before transferring as an Aircraft Mechanic. Gary has also worked for American at Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Miami (MIA), and the Alliance Fort Worth Maintenance Base (AFW). Prior to being hired by American, Gary was a C-9 Crew Chief in the Air Force, Gary also served as a KC-135 Crew Chief in the Illinois Air National Guard and was Honorably Discharged from both.

Gary holds a Master of Arts degree in Dispute Resolution with a specialization in Arbitration, Mediation, & Negotiation Techniques. Gary also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Finance. Gary has passed both FINRA Series 7 & 66 certification exams and is a Six Sigma Black Belt. Gary has certificates in Level 1 & 2 Arbitration Training from the George Meany Institute and the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School.

Gary was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas in Arlington, where he taught Negotiation and Dispute Resolution.

 

Gary Peterson was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and now resides in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife Holly and their daughter Bridget.
