TWU Express Receives National, Metro NY Awards

Continuing its award winning ways, TWU Express has again been cited by national and regional journalism associations for its work in calendar year 2007.

The International Labor Communications Association gave two awards, one recognizing design excellence for an article on labor and transportation issues, and another for excellence in the best profile category. The latter article, titled “Flying High,” profiled Local 556 Member Allyson Parker Lauck whose hobby is aerobatics.

The Metro New York Labor Communications Association gave an award to an Express article on the union’s “Cyber Protest” against bonuses to American Airlines executives while workers were sacrificing to keep the company out of bankruptcy. The judges commented: “Well-researched and presented piece on a union campaign that highlights the union’s cutting-edge use of the Internet, accompanied by member voices from the on-line campaign.”
