ATD Establishes Committee to Help TWU Veterans and Their Families

Thanks to the efforts of International Representative and American Eagle System Coordinator Jose Galarza, an Iraq War veteran, and other TWU vets, the TWU Air Transport Division has expanded its efforts in behalf of the growing number of TWU veterans by establishing a standing committee to address veterans’ issues. The first meeting of the new committee took place in early November at the TWU’s ATD headquarters in Hurst, Texas. The well-attended event (15 members from 11 different Locals) established by-laws and named officers to carry the committee’s duties forward. The group named Local 514’s Thom Lee as committee chair; Paul Mazzara (Local 530) as Co-Chair, and Jennifer Proctor- Timms (Local 514) as Recording Secretary. The group agreed to meet four times a year – twice at the ATD office in Hurst, and twice at TWU Local sites to be determined. The next meeting is scheduled for February in Hurst. Others attending the meeting (pictured below) were: Bruce Medeiros (541), Greg Baker (542), Phil Humphrey (541), Gil Kendall (502), Bobby Velasquez (513), Brian Murray (507), Craig Gillett (564), Hank Trujillo (568), Bob Strebeck (567), Arizo Gajewski (512), and Wesley Alamo (570).
