Tim Gillespie

International Representative for Title Groups II, III, and IV at American Airlines

International Representative Tim Gillespie joined TWU when he started his job as a Fleet Service Clerk in Los Angeles, California in 1979. After transferring to the Dallas Fort Worth area in 1984 he became a Shop Steward for Local 513 and was elected president of that local in 1999 and served two consecutive terms in that position. Gillespie has extensive experience with negotiations, and was heavily involved in the 2001 and 2003 contract negotiations with AMR Corp., the latter saved AMR from a potential bankruptcy filing. A man who stresses the importance of remembering where one comes from, Gillespie also strives to be fair and honest in his work and to always act with integrity. “I want to help the upcoming young union leaders that step forward with each election cycle to build our future as labor leaders and help make a stronger TWU,” he says. Tim is married and has two grown daughters and two stepsons.
