Special Report: Sexual Harassment Situation Analysis Consider the following situation. Decide if the situation is considered sexual harassment.
“My supervisor starts each day with a sexually suggestive remark about my appearance, he insists it'’ an innocent social comment.”
“I have been having an affair with the head of my division. Now I’ve told him I want to break it off, but he says I will lose out on the promotion I’ve been expecting.”
“Ms. X has told me that it would be good for my career if we went out together. I guess that means it would be bad for my career if I said no.”
“I can’t seem to go in our out of my boss’s office without being patted or pinched.”
“A man I work with has asked me out on several occasions. I’ve refused every time, but he continues to ask me.”
“Whenever I go to the central warehouse to pick up office supplies, the guys in the warehouse eye me up and down and make me feel uncomfortable.”
“My supervisor knows that my husband is frequently out of town on business. Almost every Friday he asks me if my husband will be home that weekend.”
“Since several of the women in the office found out I attended a lesbian rights meeting, they’ve been calling me “Butch” and speculating about my social life.”
“I’m a receptionist and my boss insists that I wear outfits that are sexually alluring.”
“Our office work-study student comes to work braless and in tight jeans. The guys in the office make all kinds of cracks about her behind her back, but in front of me. It embarrasses me terribly.”
“Mr. X has never acted improperly towards me, but he’s always telling me something about his and Mrs. X’s sexual problems.”
