The
Employment
Non-Discrimination
Act
(ENDA)
Pride
at
Work
is
supporting
the
passage
of
an
Act
that
would
extend
fair
employment
practices
under
federal
law
to
gay
men
,lesbian
and
transgender
community.
(The
Employment
NON-Discrimination
Act
(ENDA).
The
act
does
not
create
any
“special
rights”
but
simply
affords
to
all
Americans
basic
protection
from
employment
discrimination
based
on
sexual
orientation
or
gender
identity.
ENDA
applies
the
same
procedure
and
similar,
but
more
limited,
remedies
as
other
federal
civil
rights
laws,
like
Title
VIII
of
the
Civil
Rights
Act
of
1964
and
the
American
with
Disabilities
Act.
ENDA
will
be
introduced
in
Congress
before
the
summer
recess.
Labor
must
mobilize
in
support
of
this
bill
before
it
makes
it
to
the
floor
for
a
vote,
which
is
predicated
to
happen
around
September
2007.
