Joseph C. Gordon

Joseph C. Gordon, a veteran TWU officer with three decades of union experience under his belt, was named International Secretary Treasurer On Sept. 1, 2007 to serve out the unexpired term of retiring S.T. John J. Kerrigan.

Joe was a student at Texas Southern University in Houston when he got his first taste of unionism while working part time for National Car Rental.  He saw the company taking advantage of the Customer Service Agents there, so he helped organize them for the Teamsters Union.  He graduated Texas Southern with a BA in Political Science.  He joined American Airlines as a Fleet Service Clerk in 1973, and became a member of TWU Local 513 in Dallas.

He served the Local in a number of capacities, including Houston Section Chair, Vice President and President.

He was named to the International Union staff in 1999 as an International Representative.  He was elevated to Director of the Union’s Air Transport Division in early 2007, and will retain some of those responsibilities along with his duties as Secretary Treasurer.

He serves on the TWU-American Airlines Fleet Service System Board of Adjustment as the Union Board Member, and on the TWU-American Airlines Part Time Utilization Panel.
