AA Bargaining Update, Sept. 2

Air

Published 02 Sep, 2016

Sisters and Brothers,
The Mechanic & Related/Stores and Fleet Service Negotiating Committees met with American Airlines this week in Washington, DC.
The following are the upcoming negotiations sessions:
•    Week of September 19 – Washington, DC
•    Week of September 26 – Dallas/Fort Worth
Fleet Service Update
During this week’s sessions, your Negotiating Committee exchanged and discussed the following articles:
  • Part Time Employees – We exchanged our proposal with the company and had discussions on the part time ratio that was part of this article.
  • Temporary Assignments – We exchanged our proposal with the company and following lengthy discussions, we have narrowed down this article to two major issues.
  • Overtime – We received the company’s counter proposal, which inadequately addressed our members’ concerns. The committee discussed the proposal and composed a response to be finalized and passed at the next session.
  • Holidays – Sick Leave – Vacations – We did not receive counter proposals on these articles from the company this week.
While we have not come to any tentative agreements during the last sessions, we have significantly narrowed and resolved many of the important issues expressed by the membership to the Association. We remain united, committed, and resolute in negotiating the JCBAs we deserve. The Interim Letter of Agreement regarding wages does not change our approach to negotiating a JCBA. Our negotiations will continue and we are committed to fighting for a strong contract.
The next sessions are scheduled for the week of Sept. 19 in Washington, D.C. and the week of Sept. 26 in Dallas/Fort Worth.
Fraternally,

Mike Baskett Mike Fairbanks Pete Hogan Tim Hughes
Steve Miller Brian Oyer Pat Rezler Art Risley
Andre Sutton Rodney Walker Bill Wilson Tim Murphy
Mechanic & Related/Stores Update

During this session, your committee exchanged and discussed the following articles:
  • Shift Swaps – MCT – We exchanged proposals on this article and have reached a Tentative Agreement.
  • Overtime – M&R – We exchanged proposals again on this article. We have narrowed it down to a few issues and will continue to work through them. We are also working through the overtime distribution procedures, i.e., how the overtime will be called.
  • Vacation – M&R & MLS – We are still waiting on the company to respond to our proposal.
  • Hours of Service M&R & MLS – We exchanged proposals again on this article and are moving closer to an agreement.
  • Vacation – MCT – We exchanged initial proposals on this article.
  • Holidays – M&R, MLS, MTS & MCT – We have narrowed this issue down to how much we will be paid on a holiday. We did not receive a proposal from the company this week.
  • Limited Duty- M&R, MLS, MCT & MTS – We passed this proposal to the company in a previous session; we did not receive a proposal from the company this week.
We want to thank Brother Larry Pike for his help to the negotiating committee and welcome Rollie Reaves to the team, and want to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Labor Day!

Our negotiations will continue, and we are committed to fighting for a strong contract that restores your dignity and offers you even more respect on the job. We appreciate your continued solidarity, support, and patience, which is imperative to helping us obtain this goal.
